_Mayuri Gonzalez has been practicing Yoga, Mindfulness
and Meditation for the last 20 years, from childhood.
She has an extensive teaching background in dance, arts and theatre. Beginning in 2002, Mayuri served as the New York Regional Director of Hip Hop Kidz, where she directed a commercial after-school dance program with 7 locations throughout New York and New Jersey, and developed a youth based performance troupe and Production Company. She also directed a 11 city "Back to School Mall Tour" for Macy's and H2Kz Entertainment and has produced and choreographed countless live events, performances, and commercials.
Based on Mayuri's love of children, it was a natural fit for her to complete her certification with Little Flower Yoga (www.littlefloweryoga.com) with Jennifer Cohen Harper and she is in the process of submitting her paperwork for her 90-hour RYT for Children through the Yoga Alliance. Mayuri is also a graduate of SLT (Spiritual Leadership Training) with Harshada Wagner (www.livingmeditation.org) and studied with countless teachers and yoga masters over the years. In 1999-2000, Mayuri served on the staff of a large spiritual retreat center in upstate New York where she developed youth programs for visiting families from all over the world. She is currently on the advisory board of The Phoenix Rising Center (www.thephoenixrisingcenter.com) in Northwestern CT and resides in the NYC area with her loving husband and 2 children.
She specializes in bringing yoga, mindfulness, and meditation to children, teens and families and has offered classes in schools, centers, studios and for community organizations throughout New York, Westchester County, and Connecticut. She believes that yoga and the arts hold the key to developing healthy, happy youth who are able to make positive choices and live their lives in an awakened and empowered way. She is currently writing and developing her first book, "The Horizontal Way" and has begun a weekly blog at http://bethelight4all.weebly.com.
